CBD Lube? Good or Bad? Thai Weed News
The wide variety of CBD products currently on the market continues to grow. There are now pills, oils, creams, soaps, deodorants, and a wide variety of beauty supplements among many others.
It should be said that the jury is still out on just how beneficial or effective these various products are. However, that has not stopped manufacturers from releasing them on a very regular basis.
One of the latest products that appears to be gaining traction is CBD lube. That is what will be looked at below in an attempt to understand whether it is good, bad, or indifferent.
Perhaps the best way to start is with a quick definition of what CBD style lube is and then go on and explain why it should not be confused with CBD oil or other cannabis products. From there we can look at such things as how CBD lube works as well as touching on any potential safety concerns.
What is Lube Made from CBDs?
CBD lube is marketed as a sex lubricant and is certainly making headway in terms of sales. As would be expected, the marketing angle of this type of lube is that when it is used, sex becomes more pleasurable.
Looking at the makeup of CBD lube tells us that there is nothing overly complex about it. In fact, it is simply a type of lubricant that has been infused with cannabidiol – aka CBD.
CBD is derived from the cannabis plant and is increasingly being used in a wide variety of medicinal products.
CBD Oil is not lube
You need to be careful to make the distinction between CBD oil and lube products made from CBDs. This is because CBD oil is a natural compound that is extracted from the cannabis plant. Depending on what you read there are between 80 and 120 cannabinoids found in a cannabis plant.
However, the two main ones are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is THC that gets you high. The other is cannabidiol (CBD) which contains trace amounts of THC and will not get you stoned.
CBD in oil or pill form is touted as having therapeutic benefits that include (but are not limited to) anxiety reduction, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory properties.
While CBD oil on its own can be used as a lube this is not recommended. That is because CBD oil alone is not designed to be used for personal lubrication. Its texture and consistency are likely not suitable for use during sexual activity.
On top of this, CBD oil products often contain other ingredients which are not deemed safe or pleasurable when applied to the genital area. There is also the fact that CBD oil has not been pH balanced and use could lead to a possible upset of the vagina’s natural microbiome.
On the other hand, CBD lube products that are infused with CBD oil have been created to enhance sexual pleasure. These lubricators are formulated with other ingredients which are safe to use in and around the genital area.
This lube is touted as helping with arousal, and lubrication, and in anecdotal references has even been said to enhance orgasm. When looking at CBD lube products you will find they come in various forms. Examples are; oil-based, water-based, and silicone-based.
Just a quick tip for those who use condoms during sex. Using oil-based CBD lube might degrade the latex in condoms thus making them less effective. That being the case you would be better off going for a water-based CBD lube.
How is CBD Lube Supposed to Work?
Manufacturers claim that CBD lubricant works by enhancing blood flow to the genital area. While studies are in their early stage it is believed that the vasodilating properties of CBD help to relax blood vessels and increase blood flow.
It is this increase in blood flow that can help to enhance both lubrication and arousal. Couple that combination with a greater feeling of relaxation and it is this that can possibly improve both the intensity and duration of orgasm.
Another angle that producers of CBD lube promote is the fact that their products may have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. If this is proven to be correct then it may also help to reduce any swelling and/or inflammation in the genital area during sex.
Is it Safe to use CBD Lube?
While there is no conclusive proof either way on safe use it is clear that manufacturers and health experts generally agree that CBD lube is safe to use. Having said that, if you decide to try it then you should choose a CBD lube that has been formulated using high-quality and natural ingredients.
Do check the labeled ingredients before purchase. Those to be avoided are ones that contain such things as chemicals, preservatives, or artificial scents (fragrances.) It is also recommended to avoid any that contain alcohol.
Indeed, any ingredient ending in “-ol” is best avoided as this could cause the lube to cause dryness and irritation over time. As for certain sugars and glycerine, these are also best avoided as they could make you more prone to infections.
If you have any doubts about trying lube products made from CBD it is best to seek advice from your doctor. This is particularly the case for those on any medication as well as anyone who has sensitivities or may be allergic to the ingredients CBD style lube contains.
Differences Between Traditional Lubes and CBD Types
Ask the new entrants in the CBD lube arena and they will tell you that their products have several benefits over traditional lubes. The main thrust of this reasoning is that while traditional lubes are designed to provide lubrication during sexual activity that is their only real benefit.
Whereas the use of lube containing CBD offers additional benefits that are designed to enhance sexual pleasure while also giving you a therapeutic bonus. These manufacturers will claim that lube made from CDBs more effectively enhances arousal and that fact alone can lead to an increased and stronger orgasmic effect.
Is CBD Lube Good or Bad?
This really depends on who you listen to. Some users claim it has significantly increased their sexual enjoyment, others state that it offers very little, if any, difference from the traditional lubes they are used to. It should also be noted that this type of lube is more expensive than traditional lubes.
To help you decide whether lube made from CDBs is right for you it is recommended that you take time over selecting one of the many emerging products now available. During your research and before selection do bear in mind that you should be going for a high-quality lube, one that contains natural ingredients which are slated as helping with lubrication and can enhance your sexual enjoyment.
Once tried, you should be in a position to decide if CBD lube really does what it claims to do!
